I am always excited to see new works arrive at the gallery but I have been particularly taken with a pair of paintings that arrived a few days ago. Edgar Hunt is a well-known British artist noted for his very detailed depictions of farm yard animals especially those of Chickens, Rabbits and Donkeys; but he is not quite so well known for his paintings of Mallards. Whilst not actually rare, they are certainly much harder to come by and we are delighted to have a great pair dating from 1950. In perfect condition, one shows eight birds taking off from a river bank and the other shows their return. It appears that Edgar was capturing the birds leaving in early morning and then returning as the day started to fade and he has captured the day magnificently. Housed in beautiful original frames they are ready to hang and can be found under the Modern British section of our website.
