Artist's Biography & Works For Sale

Delphin Enjolras was born in Coucouron, Ardèche, France, the son of Casimir Enjolras and Delphine Laurens. He studied under Jean-Leon Gerome at the Ecole des Beaux- Arts and under watercolorist Gaston Gérard at the "Ecole de Dessin de la Ville in Paris. He began his career painting landscapes but soon realised that he excelled at painting female figures in calm, contemporary, affluent interiors, imbued with a soft light.

From 1890 and onwards, Enjolras exhibited his works at the Paris Salon, joining the Société des Artistes Français in 1901. Collections of his works can be found in the Musée du Puy and Musée d'Avignon.
