Donald Currie Grant was born in North Shields, Northumberland in 1930. He showed an early interest in art and he drew the attention of the Duke of Gloucester whilst still at school and went on to win a national drawing and design competition.
He is considered one of the 20th centuries leading detailed wildlife painters of African animals. Donald's work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy and at the National Museum of Sport in New York. His paintings are now in private collections right around the world. The highest recorded price for his paintings was in 2002 in New York when ‘A Bull Elephant’ sold for $71,700. Donald Grant died in 2001.
