Artist's Biography & Works For Sale
Jules Monge was born in Marseilles on the 26th of December 1855. He began his artistic tutelage under Alexander Cabanel and he painted mainly military scenes and portraits and successfully exhibited at the Salon from 1881 to 1933.
During the interwar period, he visited China and painted scenes of everyday life. Collections of his works can be found in numerous museums including Musée D’Orsay ‘Adolphe Monticelli’, once said portrait of Claude Monet, Toulon Museum, ‘Portrait of a Girl’ and ‘Millitary Attributes’ in the museum of Fine Arts and Archaeology of Besancon.
Jules Monge died in 1934.
