Simeon Stafford was born in Dukinfield, a small town in Tameside, Greater Manchester in 1956.  His mother Jean ran a green grocery shop in Hyde and it was here that he met L.S Lowry who encouraged him to paint. Lowry was later to become a good family friend and a huge inspiration for Stafford’s paintings.
In 1972-73 he studied art at Hyde College under the tutelage of Christine Kendall, wife of art historian Richard Kendall and in 1974 he turned professional and began exhibiting his work successfully in numerous places including The Royal Academy Summer show of 2001.

Stafford’s paintings are featured on the BBC your paintings website and can be found in private collections worldwide including Her Majesty the Queen.

Stafford is also an accomplished musician and composer and is a member of the British Academy of Composers and the North West Composers Association. He lives in Penwith, Cornwall.
